   War in Tibetan
Written by Yang Zhijun, this is the fi rst historical novel published in China to have as its background story the British invasion of Tibet. Specifi cally, the book narrates the whole process by which, at the end of the 19th century, the British brazenly invaded Tibet. The Tibetan people resisted them unarmed, while chanting the Six Sacred Words. Because of the Tibetan people’s love for their homeland and their devotion to Buddhism, the British failed to achieve a foothold for Christianity in Tibet. Weapons may decide survival or death on the battlefi eld; yet, belief determines victory or defeat in a war. In the context of belief, this book broadens the meaning of war and interprets Tibet from an historical point of view.
